The trip to Buford Dam starts from the trailhead at the Lower Pool Park beneath the dam that formed Lake Lanier. Pace through a grass plain which leads you to a steal and wooden bridge that crosses the powerhouse channel. Before reaching the end of the bridge you will notice a small portion of the powerhouse which was blasted out of solid rock when construction began here in Lake Lanier by the Army Corps of Engineers.
